Off to the Buckeye State!

Happy Friday!!!! Me and my husband are heading to Ohio tomorrow morning to visit my grandparents! We haven't seen them since last Thanksgiving. We spent a couple days up there visiting with family and my husband went hunting with my cousin. It was a little bit of a different experience up there with all the snow and the freezing temperatures. He loves it though!

We will be going to Scioto Downs tomorrow night for the horse races and I am so excited. Instead of jockey racing, Scioto Downs has harness racing. It should be fun and interesting! :) I haven't been since I was a little girl. I don't really remember much about it except walking around with my grandpa and picking tickets up off the ground. Haha! I also remember going to see a few horses that my grandpa had.

My grandpa actually used to harness race when he was younger!! He has raced at Scioto Downs and tons of other tracks in Michigan and Ohio. He won first place in a few races. The horses he won with were named Tam-O-Shantor and Paul K. I just think that is so awesome! He is adorable because he is super proud of it and doesn't hesitate to tell you all about it. I wish y'all could come with me to listen to his stories!!! I will try to take some pictures of the pictures he has of him racing and posing with the horses so I can show y'all!

Doesn't that seem so much scarier than actually riding on the horse??? I wonder how often they crash em up?

What do y'all have planned for this weekend??

  7. That sounds like fun! Have a great time. I only get to see my grandparents few times a year nowadays. I treasure every moment I get to spend with them, especially as they're getting older and more fragile.

  19. Harness racing is fun! I prefer flat track racing though. We don't have a track near where we live but I went to a few this past month with my grandparents. I tend to bet based on the name :-x Oh well! We compare it to my grandfather who (occasionally) bets based on the horses stats. I love it.
