Be Wise With Your Money

Good Monday morning after a long weekend! I hope you all had a great Fourth of July holiday! I spent time cleaning, organizing, resting and spending time with great friends!!! Now it's back to work unfortunately. I'm also back to trying to get all of this financial aid appeal stuff filled out. It's harder than the placement tests! LOL

How did y'all do with The Love Dare this weekend?? I know it's hard but as long as I'm conciously thinking about it, it makes it much easier. I think we have developed a habit of being impatient and it will take time to make being patient a habit. We can do it though!! I'm so glad y'all are doing this with me!! :)

Be Wise With Your Money

Where money is concerned, the Bible teaches us that we are to:

1. Save for a rainy day. "There is...treasure...in the dwelling of the wise. But a foolish man squanders it" (Pr 21:20) Learn to live within your means and teach your children to do the same. Instead of maxing out your credit cards remind yourself that you can live happily without most of the stuff advertisers are peddling. Before you make another purchase, pray.

2. Sow in the time of famine. The Bible says, "Whoever sows generously will also reap generously" (2Co 9:6). You say, "But times are tight for me right now." Don't withhold because you are afraid of not having enough. Give God a seed to work with and He'll make sure you have a harvest when you need it. God's ability to provide is not limited by the world's economy. When God tells you to give, give in faith, confident that at the right time, in the right way, and in exactly the right places, you will receive!

- The Word For You Today

Money...sigh. It's one of the main and actually the only things that me and my husband fight about. It's what makes us all worried, happy, excited, jealous, stingy, mad...I could go on and on. It seems this world revolves around money these days instead of the important things in life. I am a culprit. I love to have nice things and I love buying new things. I am also very selfish with my money. This post helps me remember that it isn't MY money. I really have to remember to PRAY before I  make purchases because it would save me so much. I hope this post helps y'all too!

  2. What a great post, to remind us to pray, and get our priorities in the right place!

I want to read The Love Dare, but may have to wait until this crazy summer is over. I'm traveling so much, and want to read this when everything is settled.

Great post today! Hope you have a great day today too! :)

  9. Wow. This came at the perfect time. We're trying to cut back and it's been tough. I'll have to remember to pray before making purchases. That should help a lot.
