Bye Bye Bread



Yep. It's hard to believe...but I have gone gluten free!

Okay so it's been one day...but that's a good start for me. LOL My doctor has been telling me to go gluten free for about 2 years now and I'm like "Yeah...right." But on Monday I got to visit with one of my best friends while she was in town and she was telling me how she's been gluten free since June! I was like "Wow! How the heck did you do it?!" She gave me lots of tips and as it turns out...it's really not THAT hard! There are so many things you can eat! The only problem I am going to have is not eating out. (okay and cupcakes) We don't exactly have gluten free restaurants around here and you can't trust the sauces or marinades and all that jazz so it's safer to just eat at home. If I do go out, I can eat before and just have a salad at the restaurant. Of course only oil and vinegar...(or I may sneak in my own dressing).








Anyway, my friend told me that she feels fantastic...her skin is clear, her digestion is in perfect working order and she has rid herself of allergies!!! I can't wait to start seeing the improvements in my life. I know that once I start feeling better, the diet will be much easier!

Are any of y'all gluten free?? Give me some tips!!

  1. Wow! More power to ya girl! I'm not sure I'd be able to give up bread but thankfully there are a lot of gluten-free recipes out there these days. Good luck, I know you can do it!

  3. I have been GF since the beginning of October (cheated a little durning the holidays and totally feel it). It is one of the best things I've ever done for my body (skin does look great and my pluming is working again -TMI). I found the transition to be easy, too. There are so many things you can eat. Plus there are a lot of wonderful GF flours (Pamela's, for example) so you can still bake the chocolate chip cookies or cupcakes you love. I've also discovered wonderful breads, crackers, and cereals. In fact, as I type this post I'm munching on my own homemade RAW granola and nut milk. YUM!

  4. I am wheat-free...but I am ok with gluten.
    You dont have to limit yourself to salads lol I eat out all the time and always find something yummy that isnt battered or breaded!

  7. I'm hypoglycemic and tried going gluten free last year to see if it helped balance my sugar levels. I did it for about 4 months and it was so hard at first but it got really easy after a few weeks. I ate a lot of spaghetti squash. Good luck and keep us posted!

  9. I eat pretty much gluten and yeast free every day and it's not that bad! The first week or two was tough but after that all your cravings go away and you'll feel SO good!! Energy is good, digestion, skin...EVERYTHING!!

    Fortunately, there are a TON of GF blogs! My fav is healthyindulgences.blogspot.com. She has some really great recipes...even cakes and cupcakes!!

  12. I am not gluten free but I should be!LOL! That is truly one of my goals to work on this new year. I can;t go completely gluten free but I can try to be as gluten free as I can be:)

  14. yes, i have also been to the atlanta underground. a kind of strange but also lovely!

    as you maybe know i´m a nutritionist and i already got my doctor degree three weeks ago. if you have any special questions you can contact me.
    for baking cupcakes you can use amaranth flour which is gluten free. some don´t like the taste but it depends on the recipe.

  15. Good for you! I tried going gluten free but I had a really hard time because I didn't care for any of the gluten free products I purchased. I know that's a lame excuse, hopefully in the future I'll get on the gluten free route again. You'll have to let us know if you find any great gluten free products or recipes :)
