Good morning!!!!!! Did anybody else get a snow day yesterday?? It was supposed to be my first day back to school but school was cancelled! We got about 6" of snow and some freezing rain later. I had so much fun riding around with my husband, doing donuts in the parking lots, sledding, having snowball fights with the neighbors...it really got me reminiscing. There are so many things I miss about the good old days...
I miss... my Charlotte Hornets.
I miss... eating anything I want and not gaining a pound.
I miss... scrunch socks and slap bracelets.
I miss... good customer service.
I miss... pagers. The fun cases...the "text" messages to friends...(143, 411, 911)
I miss... Super Nintendo. Mario Kart was my fave!! I was always the little turtle guy. He was the fastest!!
I miss... when I actually enjoyed crowds and tons of people. Now I just want to scream when I'm in a crowded place.
I miss... *Nsync and Spice Girls! Now that was good music. :)
I miss... when the movies or the roller skating rink was THE place to be on Friday nights.
I miss... my blonde hair. Thinking of going back but I know it's a lot of work.
I miss... when every day after school you could find me on my bike.
I miss... that butterfly feeling I always got when I was first dating my husband. :)
What do y'all miss??
I love this post! You know, I never had a pager, but that's hilarious. I like the blonde hair! Maybe you could get back to it slowly... maybe just starting with highlights? I also really love your brunette hair, too. You can really do anything and you'll look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAwww love your list :) I remember slap bracelets, Mario Kart, and my NSync CD!
ReplyDeleteThis cool girl right here had a Charlotte Hornets Starter jacket. Oh yes. I had no affiliation with the team, I just liked their colors. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look great as a blonde! Fun list Amy! No snow down our way, just really cold temps! Have a great Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your list! I am so missing a lot of those things as well. Isn`t it crazy how things change.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. We must be about the same age. One of the ones I think about is your last one - new love. I miss the butterflies and nervous anticipation as I waited for him to call or to pick me up. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change a thing from where we are now but I do miss the butterflies.
ReplyDeleteI also miss summer days, playing outside ALL day and coming in for a treat of Kool-Aid and vanilla cookies.
This is so cute! I miss running around the neighborhood with my 2 siblings. My parents refused to get cableTV when we were little, and we weren't allowed to watch TV anyway, so they would make us go outside (basically lock us out there, this was before all the laws on cruelty to children obvi) and we would have a ball!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Oh gosh, I don't miss slap bracelets! I always wore them because they were so cool, but I was so SCARED when I slapped myself to put them on. Man, I'm a wuss!
ReplyDeletetoo adorable!
ReplyDeletei miss stuff from my childhood in the 80s and how everything was quality-made, not just mass-produced cheapo stuff.
What a fun list! I remember being in love with Nick Carter from the BSB, and wanting to be Baby Spice! Those were the days!
ReplyDeleteI miss my brunette hair!! haha, I'm getting it done today. I love your list, anything that reminds me of slap bracelets is awesome.
ReplyDeleteWe got a snow day too. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I haven't thought about pagers in forever. I used to be a pro at decoding messages from my friends.
We got about an inch or so of sleet, which caused both Ranger and I to bust our tails this morning on the deck. I'd much rather have snow! At least it is softer! Haha!!
ReplyDeleteI love this list and miss so many of the same things! Today, though, I miss when there was no work or school on snow/ice days. Now, I just have to work from home. Boo!!
Stay warm, Dear! :)
I did a similar post a while back titled "Time Capsule, Please." I miss so much, but mainly the stress-free lifestyle. Carefree and young...*sigh*
ReplyDeleteOMG...I remember the "slap bracelets." So funny!
Have a great Tuesday!
P.S. I have to laugh at your "snow day." Where I live, we could be in the middle of a massive blizzard, below zero temps. and strong winds and they would never cancel a thing. Kind of funny to me! LOL!

Oh girlie...you had me at scrunch socks and slap bracelets! LOL And I STILL have my Super Nintendo with the Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt! Now, my boys love it! And recently I saved the princess once again so they could see what happened! I had to work at it! LOL I also had the N*Sync and Spice Girls CD! Great post! I have MISSED....you!!! I am LOVING being snowed in and not having to go in to school!!! I am worse than my students! ENJOY!!!
ReplyDeleteI seriously think everyone in world had a snow day except for us in Texas. Not fair I might add because it is down right cold just not cold enough I guess for snow!
ReplyDeleteah, i miss several of those things as well! brought back a lot of fantastic memories!!
ReplyDeletesuper jealous of your snow and all the playing you were able to do!!
So cute!!! I miss just playing at friends houses when we were like 10! I left you something on my blog!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, you got me with the butterflies in your stomach when you first met your husband - wasn't the excitement of the early days such fun? (And OF COURSE, the Spice Girls. Tee hee. )
