And by beginner I mean I just started yesterday.
Even though it was my very first run ever, I learned a great deal and thought I would share my findings with you.
1. Choose your dog/running companion wisely. Halfway through our WARMUP walk my dog stopped, looked at me with her pitiful eyes and layed down in the middle of the sidewalk.
{my Ollie girl after our workout}
2. Invest in an iPhone/iPod carrying case that straps to your pants in some way. Wearing your husband's huge camo fannypack is NOT hot.
3. Do not include "Tonto, Jump On It" on your running playlist. Every time they said "TONTO...jump on it, jump on it!" I had to stop and do the lasso dance in a circle. I couldn't help it!
4. Do not yell at the C25K app announcer guy when he says Run. and you are too tired to run. He can't hear you and he doesn't seem to care if you are tired or not. Also you might get a few strange stares from neighborhood passerbys.
5. Don't choose a neighborhood with lots of hills. Somehow it worked out that everytime the dude said Run. I was going uphill and everytime he said Walk. I was going downhill.
6. Do not eat goo goo clusters right before you go on your run. It causes cramps during the running part.
Hopefully my misfortunes can help you to have a more enjoyable running experience. :)
The thing I worked out on my first run? Not to do it again. Poor old Ollie, lol!
ReplyDeletethis made me laugh!!
ReplyDeletei love to run and i'm training for a 1/2 marathon the end of october =)
keep it up girl!!!
The photo of your dog cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteI love to run and try to go daily.
Keep it up. It gets easier and becomes very addicting. :)
hahaha! Your first run seems like it was lots of fun :)
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, love that picture of Ollie, cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!! Glad you are a runner! My ipod is on the fritz...running with no tunes and no words with friends is a bummer...hoping to get it back today! Keep us updated on your running!!
ReplyDeleteThese made me laugh! I'm on C25K too and it's been interesting. It gets easier, but then again I'm not running on hills!
ReplyDeleteLOL! That's awesome. Cracked me up. Loved this post! C25K? Is that a training app?
ReplyDeleteWell first off I gotta give you major credit for starting this running adventure. Where I live is WAY to hilly to get a run in. It would be pointless. aww your doggie is cute! When I go to the gym I need my ipod because it makes me go! Good luck hun!
ReplyDeleteYay for running! Umm...I'm kind of cracking up at this though. I can completely see you doing the lasso part. :) LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteAnd Dixie does the SAME thing when she doesn't want to run anymore. She will just lay down in the middle of the sidewalk and I have to drag her until she starts to run again. Poor puppies!
Wow, that great! :)
ReplyDeleteHm, I'm intrigued by the C25K app... so it talks over the music that you're playing?
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm impressed with your get up and go! You wasted no time getting started. I loved reading your list and I'll warn you that dude's voice does get a little more annoying as time goes on. After a while though, you'll learn to love his voice because hearing it means you're that much closer to finishing! I'm proud of you for starting!!
ReplyDeleteSounds very much like my C25K first run! :D
ReplyDeleteMy hubs and I just started c25k last night too! Our lab (she's 8 years old) did a lot better than my chihuahua did.
ReplyDeleteThis is my very first attempt at running too. So happy I am not alone in this journey! ahahah

I have a greyhound and when it finally cools off here in New Orleans I plan on taking her running with me. She loves it!
ReplyDeletehow about we skip the running part and go straight for the goo-goo clusters? sounds like a perfect plan to me! and your tired little fur baby would probably agree too! xoxo no seriously, i'm really proud of you!
ReplyDeletehahaha...Great Post!! I can relate to all of them! Keep it up though, it does get better and it's the best exercise with the fastest results!!
ReplyDeleteLove this post! I am a new runner too. That is so cute about your sweet dog. She looks worn out. Keep it up though. It will get easier.
ReplyDeleteOh golly - I just took up running too so I can really relate to this post! How funny. We gals here in the hillier region of the U.S. have our work cut out for us! It's very hilly where I run and I could just cry I get so frustrated but I am determined to be a real "runner" ... I am not there yet!
ReplyDeleteHaha This post made me laugh out loud because i can totally relate to all of these and I can definitely picture myself doing the Tonto dance in the middle of my run without even thinking twice about it!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, you're so funny! I can totally picture you doing #3! That sounds like something I'd do too. Good for you going for your first run and learning so much from it!

Haha! This was hilarious! Your exhuasted dog is so adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteWe run 2 blocks, stop and pee on a mailbox, run 2 blocks, stop and pee on a mailbox....I need to run alone if I'm ever going to get serious!
ReplyDeleteI love running but I have no endurance?! Ugh.. Ollie is adorable and pooped out haha!
ReplyDeleteI just laughed out loud imagining you jumping around and lasso-ing on the side of the road! Love it.
ReplyDeleteI love my iPod shuffle - it's small (no screen) so it's not heavy, and it has a built-in clip so you can clip it to your shirt, shorts, etc!! Oh and it holds like 900 songs.. something crazy like that!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!!
I wish you lived near by, I'd go with you. I've tried so many times to start but just can't stay motivated.
